Frank’s Mare

Learn about Frank and the FJD Performance flagship

The Mare, AKA the Stealth Mare, is a 1997 Ford Mustang GT. Driver, Frank J Perez, bought the car from the original owner in 2013 after an accident with his first 98 PI Swapped GT. When Frank bought the GT it had around 210k miles on it, but the assuring fact was that the car was completely bone stock and the original owner took meticulous care of the car and had service records from the day it was purchased up to the day it was up for sale; Frank even has the original Monroney sticker for the car from 1997!

When Frank bought the car his original plans were to do a Mach 1 4V swap and to Track/Race the car. Frank’s step-father, Kevin, had owned a SVO supercharged 98 GT convertible with a full authentic Saleen S351 kit which used to be dragged at Sonoma Raceway, and even though Kevin never took to teaching Frank about racing it was still a thought in the back of Frank’s mind; especially since when Frank met Kevin it was in 2001 when The Fast and the Furious came out, so fast cars and racing became something of interest to Frank at a rather young age. Frank’s biological father, Frank D. Perez, also helped to imprint racing on Frank at a young age when he gave him his Play Station in early 2000 and the first game Frank ever played was Need for Speed. Frank continued to play NFS games and really took to the Forza Motorsport franchise, also introduced to him by his father.

Frank wanted to get on the track, but never really knew how to go about it, and looking at the prices to get on a track by himself were so unbelievably expensive he never thought he would get to go on a race track. It wasn’t until he looked more into racing organizations like SCCA and NASA that he realized he could actually get on tracks and start to fulfill a passion that was started at a young age. The beginning of 2016 started the journey for Frank and the Mare.
